Please note when viewing high quality gemstones on the net there are certain limitations:

  1. Most monitors display images at varying dots per inch (dpi) and are not color-corrected.
  2. GIF and JPEG formats compromise quality.
  3. Internet browsers can only "see" 216 of 256 colors.
Since every system, browser, and monitor is different, we don't know if what you and we see are the same.

NGC Comment: This is an old Burma stone back for liquidation from an estate with a new Spinel Brief. It took the collector years to acquire these stones. This is a top example of a gem red spinel. Not only is the stone gem red but the tone is medium-dark and does not "black-out." The clarity is moderately included but is eye clean because the stone is so saturated. The stone has high brilliancy and good cutting/finish. If this stone was an unheated Classic Burma ruby it could sell for over $15,000 per carat. This gem is attractively priced at about 10% of an unheated Classic Burma ruby. This is a gem for a true spinel connoisseur or could be mounted in a killer ring.
