NGC Comment: Recently discovered in Mozambique, Africa, a brand new tourmaline was found which rivals the colors of tourmaline from Paraiba, Brazil. The collector market has really been in search of a new product since the Brazilian Paraiba has dwindled in size and availability. Although not as vivid as the original Brazilian material, the Mozambique colors are close. The largest new gem quality Mozambique Tourmaline is the 76.91 square antique modified brilliant. The stone has a rare Excellent (1.5) TQIR. The color and tone is 4.5/50. It is bluish green in color. The stone is flawless with superior cutting and high brilliancy. The stone was subjected to low/moderate heat and no clarity enhancement. The ultimate collectible or a serious gemstone for a hard asset portfolio.
