15.80 Internally Flawless Fancy Vivid Purple Pink Diamond sells at Christie's Hong Kong for only $29.3 million. It was expected to sell for $35 million.

An Asian private buyer purchased the stone named The Sakura, Japanese for cherry blossom, because the diamond is 'exactly' the same shade as the tree.  Perhaps the diamond was affected by weekend crashing crypto markets or simply fall out from Covid.

"A one-of-a-kind purple-pink diamond known as 'The Sakura' has broken records, selling for $29.3 million and becoming the most expensive purple-pink diamond ever sold at auction.
Auction house Christie's, which handled the sale, said the diamond is 'internally flawless' and 'fancy vivid,' which measures the color of the stone.  The 15.81-carat gem was part of 'another important chapter in jewelry auction history,' Christie's said in a statement."
